Mardaani 2 is a well made thriller with enough scope for acting. Rani mukherjee did a great job enacting police officer role. The guy who played the villain role also suited well but the problem is the unevenness of the film. Screenplay does not match the intensity of the story. Also no thrills anywhere, just looks like a plain drama told in most intense way.
Mardaani 2 has lot of similarities with Mardaani. While it was child trafficking in 1st part, this one is about rape. And if you thought Tahir Raj Bhasin was a competitive villain then, wait till you see Vishal Jethwa now. You’ll hate his character in the film, but the man has given a stupendous performance. Seldom do we get to see a lawbreaker committing such heinous crime with utmost ruthlessness and brazen manner. His expressions, body language and demeanour is spine chilling.Rani Mukerje’s role and performance looks bit repetitive, but, just like last time she has aced it here too.
Mardaani 2 is disturbing, chilling, heart-wrenching and makes you uncomfortable; and perhaps that’s what the makers intended to achieve through this edge-of-the-seat crime thriller. Written and directed by Gopi Puthran with Rani Mukerji in the lead role, Mardaani 2 highlights the gruesome crimes against women, but also delves deeper into issues such as women safety, gender inequality, misogyny and toxic masculinity.Mardaani 2 is not the first film to bring heinous crimes under the spotlight but it manages to tap into social consciousness given its timing. As the nation seethes after the horrendous rape and murder of a doctor in Hyderabad and its aftermath, the film once again takes us back to the brutality of such crimes and how we need a firm solution.
Mardaani 2 is still a racy, intense and brisk thriller that doesn't let your interest wane even once. Rani Mukherjee as the sharp speaking, headline grabbing and authoritative investigator is very impressive indeed. Vishal Jethwa is brilliant as the distorted minded, highly expressive psychopath who matches Rani Mukherjee's prowess. Had the criminal investigation been somewhat more intelligent or credible, Mardaani 2 could have matched The Silence of The Lambs.
This film only has a good message, but at the same time this movie comprises a series of bad dialogues and shows a shallow direction with irrelevant screenplay. The new villan, (Vishal Jethwa) acted good but was dragged back by the poor written dialogues and direction.Rani Mukherjee runs ahead of her dialogues all the time and it looks like a +3 sec audio syn like acting.
This movie left me speechless. What a fantastic film this was! Each and every moment of this film was worth my money. This movie showcases the hard hitting reality that a lot of people don't want to acknowledge. The safety of women is truly a matter of concern in India as well as everywhere else in the world. The director Gopi Puthran did a wonderful job. Hats off to him! Not a single song or unnecessary scene. I felt like I was watching a Hollywood film. I kid you not! The movie is fast paced and high on intensity.
A must-watch movie! Vishal Jethwa, as dark psychopath, unrepentant rapist and killer, through his character brings out the pure evil of our contemporary society that is steeped in patriarchal and misogynist mindset. His character portrayal is exemplary and gripping - a character at the centre of the entire plot. Though there are laughable slips in the storyline, the movie is a great treat with good direction, powerful acting by the actors and beautiful choreography. Thank God - there are no songs!!
Bollywood has a bad reputation of patriarchy. The heroes take the limelight whereas their heroines just dance around trees. Mardaani 2 tells a different story. A story that horrifies us, make us clench our fists, sit on the edge of our seats with the anticipation of what's going to happen next! Unlike what Bollywood movies are famous for, this has no melodramatic moments and no songs. It's different. Rani Mukherjee proves why she's still one of the most successful names while most of her contemporary faces are forgotten by the audience. She fits perfectly in her role and never tries to overdo anything. Mardaani 2 is one of those rare sequels that's as good as the first one.
Superintendent of police, Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) is out to capture a criminal (Vishal Jethwa) who rapes young women in a fit of rage before cruelly murdering them. Its a 2 days chase story of Shivani and her nemesis .This movie shows misogyny, toxic masculinity ,woman safety, gender inequality .Thankfully there are no unnecessary bollywood songs although they could have kept them. They made it very sure the film should be as serious as its message .Girls wanting to study or go out ,work and speaking their mind out shouldn't be the excuse to molest them. You'll have to keep aside the facts that how can a teenage gully boy can break into the house of a superintendent, threaten a minister and other facts ,get their contacts etc etc.Its not the most realistic film out there but its definitely entertaining.Vishal Jethwa did a terrific job at being the sadistic psycopath whocan go to any length to satisfy his urge.He has a lot of potential in future films escpicially performing such layered characters.Rani mukherjee outshined as a cop. Her 5 mins monolgue was excellent no doubt about it but it felt forced just like some of her other dialogues and there was no depth to that scene .They could have showed debate just like in the live tv shows. It would have added been more realisim to it.There are no intelligent twists and turns nor much surprising element yet the whole film is thrilling. The ending was pretty well handled, no long speeches but the cop belt lashing over the villain even we can feel our blood boil at that scene and when she finally lets all the pain and trauma she suffered while going through the mission after her victory
Directed by Gopi, staring Rani Mukharjee and Vishal - Mardaani 2 is a suspense thriller. It keeps you engaged throughout the film. The plot line in the film is so good, it keeps you engaged till the end. Actors have done fantastic job. A must watch for thriller lovers.
Directed by Gopi, this film is a crime thriller. Rani Mukharjee and Vishal have done fantastic job. Their acting was so good. The plot line is absolutely fantastic, it keeps you gripped throughout the film. You can't take eyes off the screen lest you'll miss the details. Go watch it and enjoy the film, a must watch for thriller lovers.
Shivani Shivaji Roy is back. The director and writer of this movie Gopi Puthran has done enough to take the movie to another level. From the very beginning, the story is filled with suspense. This story illustrates the true rape and murder incident. Choreography in the movie is very good. The music is very pleasant. All in all, this movie is fairly good. My rating: Plot - 4.5/5 Soundtrack - 4/5 Characters - 4/5 Direction - 4/5
A very gripping story. Could not take my eyes off the screen even for a second.Congratulations Rani and vishal for making this master piece. The suspense was held till the end.I would be probably scared of Vishal Jethwa in real life now. He was that good.A must watch.
Rani Mukherjee starrer Mardaani 2 is a gripping thriller that boasts of an exciting script and brave performances by Rani Mukherjee and Vishal Jethwa. Shivani Shivaji Roy locks horns with the devil incarnate, a young and remorseless serial killer who is raping and murdering young woman.Rani Mukherjee is as ferocious in Mardaani 2 as she was in her first film but this thriller can not escape from the clutches of an informative approach. Overall the movie is worth a watch !!
Mardaani 2 In its very opening minutes a young man in a monster’s mask commits a crime so heinous, it makes your skin crawl just taking in the extent of his depravity. No-nonsense, tough-as-nails cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, played by Rani Mukerji, is tasked with ferretting out the perpetrator.Over a crisp 105 minutes, writer-director Gopi Puthran stages an elaborate cat and mouse chase that is both thrilling, and frequently unconvincing. Sunny, the young fellow Shivani is pursuing is a serial rapist and murderer whose staggering misogyny and propensity for brutal violence, we later learn, is rooted in his own dark past. Vishal Jethwa plays Sunny as a sadistic, unhinged villain who wants to put women in their place, reminding them repeatedly not to rise above their ‘aukaat’.
Ever since I heard about Mardaani's sequel, I had great expectations coz of the only one lady, Rani Mukerji and i had some regrets that I missed Mardaani in theaters and decided to watch it in theaters on its first day. The cat and mouse game between the fierce cop Shivani Roy and a serial killer who loves to rape, torture and kills young girls. He is wild, cunning beastly and unpredictable behaviour with a dark past and is on run. Will Shivani succeeds in her mission forms the crux of the story. Well, the fast paced narration and the background score keeps you engaged in this gritty thriller. The performances of the lead and the sub characters were sumptuous. Once again, Rani didn't disappoint me, she has got the right attittude as the SP Shivani Roy and was very convincing. But the debutante Vishal Jethwa stole the whole show. He was absolutely magnificent. The character was well constructed might be inspired from Korean Serial Killer Movies.
Just saw Mardaani 2. I am shaken and can't believe the horrors some girls have gone through in our society. It is one of the best movies of this year. Hats off to Rani Mukerji. She has given her heart and soul to the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy. The young actor who plays the villain is PHENOMENAL. Other actors also add life to their respective roles. The story keeps you on the edge of the seat throughout the film. Such films should be seen on big screen so that Indian producers come out with more such hard-hitting and thought-provoking films. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
In the original 'Mardaani' released in 2014, Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) played a no-nonsense top cop who takes on an organised crime syndicate involving child trafficking and drugs. Five years later, she is back, this time to hunt down a serial killer who rapes young women before murdering them. Superintendent of police, Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) is out to capture a criminal (Vishal Jethwa) who rapes young women in a fit of rage before cruelly murdering them. The trouble is, he is always one step ahead of the cops, playing a cat-and-mouse game on his own terms.
